When detailing the facade, we wanted to pay homage to Manchester’s rich industrial past and the client’s heritage and expertise in the textile industry. The pattern evolution started with the cotton mills and the theoretical exploration of knitting, weaving, wrapping and pressing, looked at multiple fabric textured casted concrete precedents in order to arrive at our proposed lightweight perforated glass reinforced concrete panels with a digitally manipulated fabric pattern.
